Hello Reader,
Welcome to our new version of the Bauman College eNewsletter. We know how busy you are, so we've redone the layout to make it easier to jump directly to the articles that are of special interest to you. The left column also contains important dates
Another new feature is the Nutrition Bytes column, written by Dr. Ed Bauman. As most of you know, Dr. Ed Bauman, the founder of Bauman College, reviews the scientific journals and stays current on the latest nutrition research. Nutrition Bytes is where he'll share his findings with you.
Naturally, the eNewsletter will always contain Bauman College news. The Taste of Bauman College at Penngrove and Berkeley were a great success and were both filled to capacity. This evening is Taste of Bauman in Santa Cruz and the Taste of Bauman will be held in Boulder on July 23. You're invited and we hope that you'll invite your friends as well. Read more about sharing this newsletter in Networking.
Today, July 9, is the deadline for Early Bird enrollment for the Natural Chef and Nutrition Consultant programs. Early Bird is your chance to save $150 on tuition! If you've applied and received your enrollment contract, postmark it today to take advantage of this savings. If you've been delaying because you have questions about the programs, you can talk with Dr, Ed Bauman directly by participating in his conference calls . The other date to note is July 30. Apply by this date to have your application processed in time to avoid a late fee.
The Vitality Juice Fast, designed and hosted by Dr. Bauman, received great coverage by the San Francisco Examiner's Health and Happiness columnist, Debbie Gisoni. If you've ever wondered about the connection between fasting and eating, read her article. We hope to see many of you at this summer's retreat, August 14-20.
Please let me know what you think of the new format,

Studies Show Microwaves Dramatically Reduce Nutrients in Food
I do not recommend cooking food in microwave ovens, though mildly heating leftovers may not pose the same problems. Microwaving fatty foods in plastic containers leads to the release of dioxins (known carcinogens) and other toxins into your food. Chemicals released include polyethylene terpthalate (PET), benzene, toluene, and xylene.
Additionally, microwaving creates new compounds that are not found in humans or in nature, called radiolytic compounds. We don’t yet know what these compounds are doing to your body, but they are not health promoting. <READ MORE>

Our Summer Vitality Juice Fast
The connection between healthy eating and fasting is not immediately obvious. An article in the Examiner.com on our Vitality Juice Fast does a great job of explaining how fasting resets your digestive system, helping you to start eating more mindfully when you end your juice fast. Learn more about this summer's Vitality Juice Fasting Retreat at our website. We're happy to say that the retreat is back at the newly-renovated (and luxurious) Stillheart Institute.
Your Farmers' Market
The Bauman College Calendar of Events now lists the dates (about once a month) when we'll be at many local Farmers' Markets. Please stop by our booth to say hello and to sample one of our seasonal recipes.
You can help Bauman College's Nutrition News to reach more people by sharing this newsletter with your friends. Use the Forward this message to a friend not your browser's Forward button. This way they'll be invited to join our email list. (They won't be added to our email list, they have to click the subscribe option if they want to receive next month's eNewsletter.)
If you know someone in this economy, that is looking for a way to get skills that will open new employment doors, forwarding this eNewsletter may turn out to be a lifesaver. Imagine, attending a program for either 5 months (Natural Chef) or 15 months (Nutrition Consultant) that ends with certified skills. The new Nutrition Consultant Program also provides a supervised internship. This gives our students valuable experience in the workplace that can be cited on a resume! Distance Learning provides a way to get ahead for people currently employed and looking for a change. At Bauman College, Distance Learning is a one-on-one mentored program.
A visit to Meet Our Graduates is a truly inspirational experience! You'll enjoy their blogs as well.
