Rethink Your Drink
educational series in Santa Rosa Classrooms   March 1st-March 5th, 2010

In partnership with the Network for a Healthy California and the Santa Rosa City School District, Bauman College will lead a team of Nutrition Educators into Elsie Allen High School classrooms to give nutrition presentations on Rethink Your Drink. Favorite props include a 6 lb bag of fat (affectionately termed the "soda fat baby"). We look forward to educating our youth on the detriments of unhealthy sugar consumption.

“The excellent classes and faculty Bauman offered gave me the confidence I needed to move forward.

Bauman College offered me the support and whole foods education I needed to become a women’s’ health coach. Even before coming to Bauman, I was committed to supporting women to transform their relationship to food. The excellent classes and faculty at Bauman offered gave me the confidence I needed to move forward.

After graduating from the Nutrition Educator program in 2001 I started a small private practice. My vision soon blossomed into Fruition Women’s Health; an education and experience where 100’s of women have now cultivated a balanced and healthy lifestyle that lasts a lifetime!

I intentionally help my clients to make changes slowly and in manageable pieces. Through my supportive unique counseling my clients and I weave the elements of whole foods education with awareness. Becoming aware of how, when and where we eat is just as important as knowing what to eat. In addition we explore and cultivate a new understanding of the reasons why we choose to eat instead of nurturing ourselves with more life giving activities.

Attending Bauman College confirmed my belief that being healthy and well comes from great support and creating community. It is difficult to create healthy new habits without the support of other people. I know this from personal experience and it is a big part of my commitment to clients at Fruition Women’s Health. Our on-line forum, group classes and events support my clients to find like-minded people and new friendships.

The community support I enjoyed at Bauman helped me deal with issues that many of my clients also face. I have overcome my eating disorder, as well as some digestive and menstrual problems. I know it would have been much harder to make key changes in my diet and lifestyle without a strong support system. I still feel my classmates, my teachers, and Ed behind me, saying: “You can do it, go for it.”
